Just in case you didn’t get enough information from the videos linked in the last entry, this Saturday morning (May 10) the Sierra Club is hosting an urban bike safety clinic for people who want to learn more about bicycling in traffic safely. This will also be a great opportunity to meet others interested in biking!

I wish you luck too. I live a scant 4 miles from work, and I would love to be able to ride to work, but the folks in cars are just too mean, safety classes or not, some drivers see a bicycle and see nothing but red.
After a couple of spills, and people taking aim at me, I gave it up for the quiet back roads. I’d rather walk to work on the grass (of course, no sidewalks to speak of around.) Than try to cycle on the roads in rush hour.
Years ago KC made an effort to start on a trail & bike lane network around town. Too bad we didn’t follow through with that in a more serious manner. Now that we really need alternatives with gas prices these days, I’m sure all those plans are still laying on desks somewhere gathering dust.
The trail system and light rail plan should become a major push for KC.
Thanks
